Today, we simply wanted to provide lunch for you so that, even if only for a brief moment, you could step back, breathe, and enjoy a meal without having to worry about what you were going to eat today.

As parents ourselves who had a child battling medulloblastoma and who was treated here at Loma Linda University Children's Hospital, my husband, Robert Olivas, and I personally understand how overwhelming it can feel when your child is admitted into the hospital. The emotional weight it places on a parent, caregiver, siblings, and the entire family is something that reaches far beyond the hospital room.

It has now been 10 years since the groundbreaking ceremonies at Loma Linda University Children's Hospital, where we had the opportunity to stand up and share our personal experiences and speak about the incredible way everyone at Loma Linda cared not only for the patient, but for the entire family. That compassion left a lasting impact on our hearts that we will never forget.

During times like these, the smallest moments of comfort matter. We hope today's lunch simply reminds you that people are praying for you, thinking about you, and standing beside you as you focus on loving and caring for your babies.

We are praying for strength when you feel exhausted, peace when fear tries to creep in, calmness in the middle of uncertainty, and for every personal and financial responsibility surrounding your family to be taken care of while your focus remains on your child and their healing journey.
